Abstract
A mask for removably covering an IOL to protect a sharp peripheral edge of the IOL optic during polishing.
Claims20
A mask for covering a sharp edge of an IOL during polishing of said IOL, said mask leaving the remainder of said lens exposed to the polishing operation.
The mask of claim 2 wherein said IOL has a sharp peripheral edge and said mask is configured to substantially cover said sharp peripheral edge.
A method for polishing selected areas of an IOL while leaving the remaining areas of the IOL unpolished, said IOL having an optic and at least one haptic, said method comprising the steps of:
- a) providing a mask having first and second halves configured to removably cover said remaining areas of said IOL during said polishing;
- b) removably locating said IOL in said mask between said first and second halves thereof;
- c) polishing said IOL;
- d) removing said IOL from said mask, wherein said remaining areas of said IOL are not polished.
