Abstract
A cable connector allows the electrical contacts thereof to come into elastic contact with a ground plate when the cable connector connecting with a shielded cable is fit-connected to a PCB connector through the ground plate. The contact effectiveness of the electrical contacts is improved so that a shield-ground path from the shielded cable to the ground plate has a low impedance. The connector is provided with electrical contacts which are composed of generally U-like bent spring plates. Each spring plate is supported at one end thereof on the shield shell, and comes into elastic contact with the ground plate when the cable connector is fitted into the mating connector.

A cable connector (10) for a shielded cable (96) comprising of signal lines shielded by a jacket and suitable to fit-connect with a mating connector (40) through a ground plate (60), said cable connector (10) comprising
- a contact housing (12) including first contacts (17) each electrically connectable with the signal lines of the shielded cable (96),
- a shield shell (14) electrically connectable with the jacket shield and covering the contact housing (12),
- an insulating cover (18) which covers the shield shell (14), and electrical contacts (30) composed of generally U-like bent plate springs (36)
- characterized in that
- each electrical contact (30) is provided with a proximal end supported portion (34) held by the shield shell (14) and a distal action end (35c) located in fitting direction of the connector (10) with the mating connector (40), wherein the distal action end (35c) of the electrical contacts (30) come into elastic contact with the ground plate (60) when the cable connector (10) is fitted into the mating connector (40).
