Abstract
A system for characterizing color is provided. The system includes a color patch identification system that receives image data, such as image data of a color wedge, and generates color patch data, such as for two or more patches that make up the color wedge. A color patch characterization system receives the color patch data and generates color density data, such as by calculating the average color density of each color patch.
Claims28
A system for characterizing printer color comprising:
- a color patch identification system receiving image data and generating color patch data;
- and
- a color patch characterization system receiving the color patch data and generating color density data.
A system for calibrating a digital camera, comprising:
- a test image system generating test color density image data from a calibrated test color density image using the digital camera;
- and
- a camera calibration system receiving the test color density image data and the calibrated test color density image data and generating camera calibration data.
A method for characterizing color comprising:
- generating two or more patches of color data;
- generating color density data for each patch;
- and
- storing the color density data for use in generating a correction factor.
A process for producing an ink cartridge with color correction data, the process comprising the acts of:
- using the ink cartridge to produce a test patch;
- comparing the test patch to known color data;
- producing a set of mapped color density data based on the comparison of the test patch to the known color data;
- storing data corresponding to the set of mapped color density data.
A process for calibrating a camera to produce color corrected images, the process comprising the acts of:
- generating test color density image data from a calibrated test color density image;
- generating camera calibration data from the test color density image data;
- and
- storing the camera calibration data.
