Abstract
A bone plate system is provided which maintains intervertebral spacing and stability of a spine. In an embodiment, a bone plate system may include a base plate with an opening through which the fastener may be positioned to allow the fastener to be inserted into a human bone at a desired angle relative to the plate. Some embodiments of a bone plate system may include a base plate and an extender plate. An extender plate may be coupled to a base plate while the base plate is coupled to the bone.

- wherein the retainer can move to allow the fastener to be inserted into a human bone at a desired angle relative to the plate when the retainer is coupled to the fastener.
A bone plate system comprising:
- a plate;
- an opening passing through the plate;
- a retainer positionable within the opening;
- and
- a fastener positionable through the retainer;
- wherein the opening is at least partially bounded by one or more walls, wherein a wall of the opening comprises an recess configured to engage the retainer to inhibit removal of the retainer from the plate during use;
- and
- wherein the recess is biased relative to the plate to allow the fastener to be inserted into human bone at a desired angle relative to the plate when the retainer is coupled to the fastener.
A bone plate system comprising:
