Abstract
A metallized, multilayer, high barrier, oriented thermoplastic polyester film suitable for forming an inner liner of a spiral wound container including a core layer of polyester; a layer of a heat sealable copolyester positioned adjacent to one surface of the core layer; a metal film positioned adjacent an opposite surface of the core layer; and a barrier layer heat sealable coating layer positioned adjacent the metal film which is capable of adhering to the metal film and does not adhere to the heat sealable copolyester.
Claims28
1) A metallized, multilayer, high barrier, oriented thermoplastic polyester film suitable for forming an inner liner of a spiral wound container comprising:
- a) a core layer of polyester;
- b) a layer of a heat sealable copolyester positioned adjacent to one surface of the core layer;
- c) a metal film positioned adjacent an opposite surface of the core layer;
- and
- d) a barrier layer heat sealable coating layer positioned adjacent the metal film which is capable of adhering to the metal film and does not adhere to the heat sealable copolyester at ambient conditions.
27) A spiral wound container constructed from a web lamination of a paperboard substrate and a lap-sealable thermoplastic high barrier polyester constructed from an aluminized multilayer thermoplastic substrate comprising a core layer of polyester and at least one surface layer of hydrophobic copolyester, said aluminized polyester film extrusion coated with a polyethylene based sealant capable of lap sealing to the copolyester surface layer.
28) A spiral wound container comprising 1) a paperboard substrate;
- and 2) a metallized, multilayer, high barrier, oriented thermoplastic polyester film comprising:
- a) a core layer of polyester;
- b) a layer of a heat sealable copolyester positioned adjacent to one surface of the core layer;
- c) a metal film positioned adjacent an opposite surface of the core layer;
- and
- d) a barrier layer heat sealable coating layer positioned adjacent the metal film which is capable of adhering to the metal film and does not adhere to the heat sealable copolyester, wherein portions of the barrier layer heat sealable coating layer are heat sealed to portions of the heat sealable copolyester.
