Remote diagnostic packets

A method of remotely diagnosing an information handling system, wherein the information handling system is operatively coupled to a network and is responsive to test mode packets, comprising:

• receiving a test mode packet via a network;
• receiving a test command packet via the network, the test command packet causing a test to be performed on a target device of the information handling system;
• and
• transmitting the test results via the network.

An information handling system, comprising:

• a processor;
• a memory coupled to the processor;
• and
• a communications device coupled to the processor, the memory, and the network, configured to:
• transmit a test mode packet to a remote information handling system via the network;
• transmit a test command packet to the remote information handling system via the network, the test command packet causing a test to be performed on a target device of the remote information handling system;
• and
• receive a test result via the network.
