Abstract
The present invention relates to the use, for adhesion on hair or fiber-populated surfaces, of hydrogel adhesive characterized by a G′25, (1 rad/sec) below 1000 Pa, and containing weak acid monomer units at selected degree of neutralization, not only resulting in embedding of the hair or fiber and good adhesion properties on the surface, but also in excellent results in terms of cohesiveness, and peel force. The invention also encompasses Personal Care products and Surface Care Articles containing the hydrogel compositions herein.
Claims12
A hydrogel adhesive for an article, said hydrogel adhesive comprising:
- (a) from 10 weight percent to 60 weight percent of a cross-linked hydrophilic polymer;
- (b) from 5 weight percent to 80 percent of a water-soluble nonionic humectant;
- and
- (c) from 10 weight percent to 85 weight percent of water;
- wherein said adhesive has an elastic modulus at a temperature of 25° C., G′25 (1 rad/sec) of less than 1000 Pa;
- and,
- wherein said hydrophilic polymer comprises at least 10 mole percent of a weak acid monomer having a pKa above 3, said weak acid monomer being at least 50 mole percent in an acid form.
A disposable human waste management article comprising a bag, said bag comprising an aperture and a flange surrounding said aperture, said flange comprising a wearer-facing surface, said wearer facing surface being coated with a hydrogel adhesive, said hydrogel adhesive comprising from 10 weight percent to 60 weight percent of a cross-linked hydrophilic polymer, from 5 weight percent to 80 percent of a water-soluble nonionic humectant, and from 10 weight percent to 85 weight percent of water;
- wherein said adhesive has an elastic modulus at a temperature of 25° C., G′25 (1 rad/sec), less than 1000 Pa;
- and,
- wherein said hydrophilic polymer comprises at least 10 mole percent of a weak acid monomer having a pKa above 3, said weak acid monomer being at least 50 mole percent in an acid form.
An absorbent article comprising an absorbent core and a wearer-facing surface, said wearer-facing surface being coated with a hydrogel adhesive, said hydrogel adhesive comprising from 10 weight percent to 60 weight percent of a cross-linked hydrophilic polymer, from 5 weight percent to 80 percent of a water-soluble nonionic humectant;
- and from 10 weight percent to 85 weight percent of water;
- wherein said adhesive has an elastic modulus at a temperature of 25° C., G′25 (1 rad/sec), less than 1000 Pa;
- and,
- wherein said hydrophilic polymer comprises at least 10 mole percent of a weak acid monomer having a pKa above 3, said weak acid monomer being at least 50 mole percent in an acid form.
