Abstract
A method of dynamically adding new code to an application program. An application, while running, receives a procedure call from another application. The application receives one or more parameters in connection with the procedure call. The application receives new code to be added to the application. The application determines, based on the parameters, whether the new code is authorized to be added to the application. If the new code is authorized, the application loads the new code while the application is running. The application tests the new code and stores the new code if the new code runs properly.
Claims42
A method comprising:
- receiving a procedure call via an interface while running;
- receiving one or more parameters in connection with the procedure call;
- receiving new code;
- determining, based at least in part on the one or more parameters, whether the new code is authorized;
- and
- loading the new code while running, if the new code is authorized.
An article of manufacture comprising:
- a machine-accessible medium including thereon sequences of instructions that, when executed, cause an electronic system to:
- receive a procedure call via an interface while running;
- receive one or more parameters in connection with the remote procedure call;
- receive new code;
- determine, based at least in part on the one or more parameters, whether the new code is authorized;
- and
- load the new code while running, when the new code is authorized.
An apparatus comprising:
- an interface to provide access in response to a process call, through which parameters and new code are received;
- an authenticator, coupled with the interface, to use the parameters to determine whether the new code is authorized;
- a loader, coupled with the authenticator, to dynamically add the new code, if the new code is authorized;
- a tester, coupled with the loader, to determine whether the new code operates properly;
- and
- a storer, coupled with the tester, to transmit the new code to a storage area.
A system comprising:
- a data repository to receive new code and one or more parameters in connection with a procedure call;
- and
- a processing system to determine, based at least in part on the one or more parameters, whether the new code is authorized, load the new code while running if the new code is authorized, and test the new code to determine whether the new code runs properly.
