Abstract
In a method, a first available server is determined among one or more servers in response to a request packet. The network time from the first available server is applied to a client to synchronize its system clock.
Claims62
A method for synchronizing a system clock in a client with a network time from a server, said method comprising:
- transmitting a request packet;
- receiving one or more data packets from at least one server in response to said request packet;
- testing for a first synchronized packet from said one or more data packets;
- and
- selecting a first synchronized server in response to finding the first synchronized packet.
An apparatus for synchronizing a system clock in a client, said apparatus comprising:
- means for transmitting a request for time synchronization;
- means for receiving responses from a plurality of servers;
- means for determining the order of receipt of said responses;
- and
- means for determining whether any of said responses is from a synchronized server.
A system for synchronizing a system clock in a client, said system comprising:
- a time sync module configured for storage and execution on said client, wherein said time sync module is operable to transmit a request for time to one or more servers, to receive responses from said one or more servers, to determine whether the responding servers are synchronized or non-synchronized and the order in which the servers responded, and to apply the network time from the first synchronized server to respond.
A method comprising:
- determining a first available server among one or more servers in response to a request packet;
- and
- applying a network time from said first available server.
A computer readable storage medium on which is embedded one or more computer programs, said one or more computer programs implementing a method, said one or more computer programs comprising a set of instructions for:
- determining a first available server among one or more servers in response to a request packet;
- and
- applying a network time from said first available server.
