Abstract
Converting a electronic files. An initial step involves determining whether an electronic file contains distinct data strings or simple text associated with marks. Where the electronic file contains distinct data strings, those distinct data strings are located, and, from each distinct data string, format data is obtained. The distinct data string is then converted to simple text and associated with a mark, the mark representing the format data. Where the electronic file contains simple text associated with marks, those marks are located, for each located mark, the simple text associated with that mark is identified. The simple text is then formatted according to the mark forming a distinct data string.
Claims33
A method for converting an electronic file, comprising:
- converting a distinct data string to simple text;
- obtaining format data from the distinct data string;
- and
- associating the simple text with a mark representing the format data.
A method for converting an electronic file, comprising:
- intercepting the electronic file;
- locating distinct data strings within the electronic file;
- and
- for each distinct data string, obtaining format data from the distinct data string, converting the distinct data string to simple text, and associating the simple text with a mark representing the obtained format data.
A method for converting an electronic file comprising:
- locating a mark within the electronic file;
- identifying simple text associated with the mark;
- and
- formatting the simple text according to the mark forming a distinct data string.
A method for converting an electronic file comprising the acts of:
- intercepting the electronic file;
- locating marks within the electronic file;
- identifying simple text associated with the marks;
- and
- for each located mark, forming a distinct data string by formatting the simple text according to the mark.
A method for converting an electronic file comprising:
- determining whether the electronic file contains distinct data strings or simple text associated with marks;
- where the electronic file contains distinct data strings, locating distinct data strings within the electronic file, and, for each distinct data string, obtaining format data from the distinct data string, converting the distinct data string to simple text, and associating the simple text with a mark representing the obtained format data;
- and
- where the electronic file contains simple text associated with marks, locating marks within the electronic file and, for each located mark, identifying simple text associated with the mark and forming a distinct data string by formatting the simple text according to the mark.
A computer readable medium having instructions for:
- converting a distinct data string to simple text;
- obtaining format data from the distinct data string;
- and
- associating the simple text with a mark representing the obtained format data.
A computer readable medium having instructions for:
- intercepting an electronic file;
- locating distinct data strings within the electronic file;
- and
- for each distinct data string, obtaining format data from the distinct data string, converting the distinct data string to simple text, and associating the simple text with a mark representing the obtained format data.
A computer readable medium having instructions for:
- locating a mark within an electronic file;
- identifying simple text associated with the mark;
- and
- formatting the simple text according to the mark forming a distinct data string.
A computer readable medium having instructions for:
- intercepting an electronic file;
- locating marks within the electronic file;
- identifying simple text associated with the marks;
- and
- for each located mark, forming a distinct data string by formatting the simple text according to the mark.
A computer readable medium having instructions for:
- determining whether an electronic file contains distinct data strings or simple text associated with marks;
- where the electronic file contains distinct data strings, locating distinct data strings within the electronic file, and, for each distinct data string, obtaining format data from the distinct data string, converting the distinct data string to simple text, and associating the simple text with a mark representing the obtained format data;
- and
- where the electronic file contains simple text associated with marks, locating marks within the electronic file and, for each located mark, identifying simple text associated with the mark and formatting the simple text according to the mark forming a distinct data string.
A data conversion system comprising a data type identifier and a marker, the data type identifier operable to scan an electronic file for a distinct data string and to obtain format data from the distinct data string, the marker operable to convert the distinct data string to simple text and to associate the simple text with a mark, the mark representing the format data obtained from the distinct data string.
A data conversion system comprising a mark reader and a formatter, the mark reader operable to locate a mark within the electronic file and identify simple text associated with the mark, the formatter operable to format the simple text according to the mark forming a distinct data string.
A data conversion system comprising:
- a data type identifier operable to scan an electronic file for distinct data strings and to obtain format data from each;
- a marker operable to, for each distinct data string, convert the data string to simple text and associate the simple text with a mark, the mark representing the format data obtained from the distinct data string;
- a mark reader operable to scan the electronic document for marks and to identify simple text associated with each mark;
- and
- a formatter operable to format the simple text associated with each mark according to that mark forming distinct data strings.
