Abstract
The present invention relates to novel singlet oxygen catalysts useful for the production of specialty chemicals. The catalysts include a core material selected from amine coated polymeric beads, amine coated glass beads and multi-generational dendrimers to which condensed carbon molecules are bonded. These catalysts may in turn give rise to other solid phase heterogeneous catalysts useful for stereoselective or regioselective reactions, by way of non-limiting example.
Claims28
A catalytic product comprising:
- a core material having condensed carbon molecules bonded thereto, said catalytic product being useful to form singlet oxygen.
A catalytic product capable of stereoselective or regioselective reactions comprising:
- a) a core material including condensed carbon molecules bonded to said core material;
- and
- b) an outer portion bonded to said condensed carbon molecules including chiral pockets.
A method of carrying out stereoselective or regioselective chiral reactions, said method including the steps of:
- a) providing a catalytic product including a core material having condensed carbon molecules bonded thereto and an outer portion bonded to said condensed carbon molecules including chiral pockets;
- b) introducing reactant molecules into the chiral pockets of said catalytic product;
- and
- c) activating the selective oxidation of said reactant molecules.
