Abstract
A folding mechanism couples to a printing mechanism and receives media for folding therein.
Claims47
A method of media folding comprising:
- propelling media along a first path;
- diverting a leading edge of media along a second path;
- blocking said leading edge along said second path;
- buckling said media at an intermediate portion of said media;
- and
- engaging said intermediate portion to fold said media.
3 more elements
A folding system comprising:
- a printing mechanism for selectively directing media to an alternate outlet thereof and including a module mounting site;
- and
- a folding mechanism coupled to said printing mechanism at said module mounting site.
A folding apparatus comprising:
- media transport directed to move media;
- a media nozzle having a first position and a second position, said first position directing media when moving therethrough onto a diversion path, said second position allowing media when passing therethrough to move along a feed direction;
- and
- a media folding device adjacent an outlet of said media nozzle.
1 more element
A method of producing folded printed material comprising:
- applying by printing mechanism print imaging to said material;
- feeding said material from said printing mechanism into a folding module attached thereto;
- diverting a leading portion of said material along a diversion path while continuing propulsion of said material into said folding module;
- ceasing said diversion and allowing a trailing portion of said material to pass said diversion path;
- and
- engaging a bowed portion of said material at a folding device and folding said material.
3 more elements
A sheet-form media folding module comprising:
- an input slot;
- an output slot;
- a pair of guide surfaces coupling said input slot and said output slot, said guide surfaces making transition from a coplanar relation at and with said input slot to a coplanar relation at and with said output slot, said input slot and said output slot being in substantially orthogonal relation.
A printing and folding system comprising:
- printing means providing media at a printing means outlet:
- folding module means receiving said media from said printing means outlet.
