Abstract
A male terminal fitting (10) has a rectangular tubular main portion (12) and a tab (13) that are coupled via a coupling portion (14). The tab (13) is a substantially rectangular tube with a separation along one side. The coupling portion (14) has a bottom wall (14a), left and right side walls (14b, 14d) extend from the opposite sides of the bottom wall. A ceiling wall (14c) projects from the left side wall (14b) and is opposed to the bottom wall (14a). The ceiling wall (14c) and the right side wall (14d) are separated so that this separation is continuous with the separation (19) of the tab (13). The respective walls (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d) are unitary with the front end of the main portion (12).
Claims14
A male terminal fitting (10) formed from a blank stamped from a base material and having a substantially tubular main portion (12) and a tab (13) for contacting a mating female terminal fitting, the main portion (12) and the tab (13) being coupled via a coupling portion (14), the tab (13) being substantially in the form of a tube partially separated with respect to a peripheral direction to form a separation (19), wherein:
- the coupling portion (14) comprises a first coupling wall (14a), second and third coupling walls (14b, 14d) extending from opposite sides of the first coupling wall (14a), and a fourth coupling wall (14c) projecting from the second coupling wall (14b) and substantially opposed to the first coupling wall (14a), the coupling portion (14) being substantially in the form of a tube with a separation between the fourth coupling wall (14c) and the third coupling wall (14d) such that the separation (14e) is substantially continuous with the separation (19) of the tab (13), and
- the first coupling wall (14a), the second and third coupling walls (14b, 14d) and the fourth coupling wall (14c) being connected with the main portion (12).
The male terminal fitting of clam 4, wherein the protection wall (23) is bent to incline forward substantially along fourth coupling wall (14c), while being slightly spaced up from the fourth coupling wall (14c).
A male terminal fitting (10) unitarily formed from a conductive material and having opposite front and rear ends, the male terminal fitting (10) comprising:
- a substantially rectangular tubular main portion (12) disposed between the front and rear ends, the main portion (12) having a main bottom wall (12a), opposed first and second main sidewalls (12b, 12d) extending up from the main bottom wall (12a) and a main ceiling wall (12c) opposed to the main bottom wall (12a);
- a tab (13) at the front end and being cross sectionally smaller than the main portion (12);
- and
- a substantially converging tubular coupling portion (14) extending from the main portion (12) to the tab (13), the coupling portion (14) having a bottom coupling wall (14a) extending unitarily from the main bottom wall (12a), first and second side coupling walls (14b, 14d) extending unitarily from the bottom coupling wall (14a), the first side coupling wall (14b) extending unitarily from the first main sidewall (12b ) and the second side coupling wall (14d) extending unitarily from the second main sidewall (12d) and a ceiling coupling wall (14c) extending unitarily from both the first side coupling wall (14b) and the main ceiling wall (12c).
The male terminal fitting (10) of clam 11, wherein the protection wall (23) is bent to incline forward substantially along ceiling coupling wall (14c), while being slightly spaced up from the ceiling coupling wall (14c).
