Abstract
The invention features a method of detecting the presence of a grapevine leafroll virus in a sample using immunological or nucleic-acid based methodologies.
Claims16
A method of detecting the presence of a grapevine leafroll virus in a sample, said method comprising contacting said sample with an antibody or binding portion thereof that specifically binds a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of a helicase, an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, an hsp70 polypeptide, and an hsp90 polypeptide, and assaying for binding of said antibody or antibody portion thereof to said polypeptide, such binding indicating that said virus is present in said sample.
A method of detecting the presence of a grapevine leafroll virus in a sample, said method comprising analyzing a nucleic acid of said sample, said analyzing comprising contacting said nucleic acid with a nucleic acid probe that specifically hybridizes to nucleic acid encoding a coat protein, a helicase, or an hsp70 gene of the grapevine leafroll virus and assaying for specific hybridization of said probe to said nucleic acid of said sample, such hybridizing indicating that said virus is present in said sample.
A method of detecting the presence of a grapevine leafroll virus in a sample, said method comprising analyzing a nucleic acid of said sample, said analyzing comprising contacting said nucleic acid with at least one nucleic acid primer that specifically hybridizes to at least a portion of a coat protein, a helicase, or an hsp70 gene of the grapevine leafroll virus and performing a gene amplification detection procedure on said nucleic acid of said sample, said amplification indicating that said virus is present in said sample.
