Abstract
Apparatus and method for cargo transfer. A loaded container sled is stuffed into/stripped from a container. The method encompasses a marine terminal that stores loaded sleds prior to stuffing into a container. Method and apparatus reduce the required number of cargo containers by up to a factor of eight.
Claims7
A system for automatic storage and retrieval of cargo at a marine terminal, said system comprising:
- a container sled;
- a container-sled storage structure;
- and
- a container-sled lifting device;
- wherein said container sled is movable by said container-sled lifting device into and out of said container-sled storage structure.
