Abstract

Image processing apparatus comprising: a printing unit; a first USB interface having a plurality of logical channels for connecting with an external processing apparatus; a second USB interface compliant with the same communication standard as the first USB interface and having a plurality of logical channels that have a different configuration from the first USB interface for connecting with the printing unit; a CPU for controlling data transfer between the first USB interface and the second USB interface; and a printing unit signal controller for controlling ON/OFF of power supply to the printing unit according to a predetermined condition. When power supply is turned off by the printing unit signal controller, power supply to the printing unit is stopped. In the power-off state of the printing unit, the CPU analyzes data inputted from the first USB interface. If the data commands to turn on power supply to the printing unit or requires processing by the printing unit, the printing unit signal controller turns on power supply to the printing unit to supply electric power to the printing unit.

Dependent claims

An image processing apparatus comprising:

a data processing unit;
a first interface unit, having a plurality of logical channels, adapted to connect with an external processing apparatus;
a second interface unit, compliant with a same communication standard as said first interface unit and having a plurality of logical channels that have a different configuration from said first interface unit, adapted to connect with said data processing unit;
a control unit adapted to control data transfer between said first interface unit and said second interface unit;
and
a power control unit adapted to control turning ON/OFF power supply to said data processing unit,
wherein when power supply is turned off by said power control unit, power supply to said data processing unit is stopped.

said control method comprising:
detecting setting/canceling of an energy-saving mode;
and
turning on power supply to the data processing unit by the power control unit in a case where a cancellation state of the energy-saving mode is detected.
