System and method for manufacturing a molded article

A system of manufacturing a molded article, said system comprising:

• a mold having first and second parts engagable to one another to form a cavity therebetween,
• a mold station for injecting a settable mixture into said mold cavity, said first mold part fixed to said mold station;
• a spray station adjacent said mold station for spraying a surface coating onto said second part of said mold;
• an enclosure disposed between said mold station and said spray station to contain emissions;
• said second part of said mold being movable between said spray station and said mold station.

A system of manufacturing a molded article, said system comprising:

• a plurality of molds having first and second parts engagable to one another to form a cavity therebetween,
• a plurality of mold stations each including said first mold part fixed therein;
• a spray station adjacent said plurality of mold station for spraying a surface coating onto said second parts of said molds;
• an enclosure surrounding said spray station to contain emissions;
• said second part of said mold being movable between said spray station and said plurality of mold station.

A method of manufacturing a molded article from a settable mixture said method comprising the steps of:

• a. applying a surface coating at a spray station onto a molding surface of one of a plurality of movable mold parts of a mold;
• b. shuttling the movable mold part old into alignment with one of a plurality of fixed parts disposed at one of a plurality of mold stations;
• C. securing the movable mold part to the fixed mold;
• d. filling the mold with the settable mixture;
• e. releasing the movable mold part from the fixed mold part;
• f. shuttling the movable part of the mold away from the mold station;
• and demolding the molded article.
