Abstract
A wireless communication apparatus performs wireless communication with an access point, and establishes a connection with a network through the access point. The wireless communication apparatus detects an attribute of the access point, and employs the detected attribute to select procedures for communication across the network.

A wireless communication apparatus, for performing wireless communication with an access point, comprising:
- connection means for establishing a connection to a network through the access point;
- detection means for detecting an attribute of the access point;
- and
- selection means for employing the attribute, detected by the detection means, to select procedures for using the network to provide communication.
A wireless communication apparatus comprising:
- connection means for establishing a wireless connection with an access point;
- and
- control means for permitting the connection means to issue a connection request to a first access point having an attribute to which a first priority is given,
- wherein, when the connection to the first access point fails, the control means permits the connection means to issue a connection request to a second access point, and
- wherein the second access point is selected in accordance with the priority given to an attribute of the second access point.
A wireless communication apparatus, for performing wireless communication with an access point, comprising:
- connection means for establishing a connection with a network through the access point;
- and
- acquisition means for obtaining, from the access point, information required for communication across the network,
- wherein the connection means establishes a connection with the network in accordance with the information obtained by the acquisition means.
A control program, for a wireless communication apparatus that performs wireless communication with an access point and that establishes a connection with a network through the access point, comprising the steps of:
- establishing a connection to a network through the access point;
- detecting an attribute of the access point;
- and
- employing the attribute, detected at the detection step, to select procedures for using the network to provide communication.
A control program, for a wireless communication apparatus that performs wireless communication with an access point, comprising the steps of:
- issuing a connection request to a first access point having an attribute to which a first priority is given,
- issuing a connection request to a second access point when the connection to the first access point fails,
- wherein the second access point is selected in accordance with the priority given to an attribute of the second access point.
A control program, for a wireless communication apparatus that performs wireless communication with an access point and that establishes a connection with a network through the access point, comprising the steps of:
- obtaining, from the access point, information required for communication across the network, and
- establishing a connection with the network in accordance with the information obtained at the acquisition step.
