Abstract
The present invention provides compounds of formula (I) 1 wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are as defined in the specification, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds are useful for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of diseases which are associated with DPP IV, such as diabetes, particularly non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, and impaired glucose tolerance.
Claims17
A compound of formula (I)
- 38
- wherein
- R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R2 is heterocyclyl;
- heterocyclyl mono-, di-, or tri-substituted, independently, by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, perfluoro-lower alkyl, amino or halogen;
- aryl;
- or aryl mono-, di-, or tri-substituted, independently, by halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, amino or perfluoro-lower alkyl;
- R3 and R4 together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached form:
- a phenyl ring which is optionally mono-, di- or tri-substituted, independently, by halogen, lower alkyl, perfluoro-lower alkyl or lower alkoxy;
- or
- a 5-, 6- or 7-membered saturated ring which optionally contains a heteroatom selected from O, N and S, and which saturated ring is optionally mono-, di- or tri-substituted, independently, by halogen, lower alkyl, perfluoro-lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, said saturated ring being ortho-fused to a 5- or 6-membered aromatic ring which optionally contains a heteroatom selected from O, N and S, and which aromatic ring is optionally mono-, di- or tri-substituted, independently, by halogen, lower alkyl, perfluoro-lower alkyl or lower alkoxy;
- and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof
