Fluid separation devices, systems and/or methods using a centrifuge and roller pump

A method for separating a composite fluid into component parts comprising loading the composite fluid into a composite container;

• providing a rotor;
• placing the composite container with the composite fluid on the rotor;
• engaging a central pump mechanism with a pump race on the rotor;
• rotating the rotor and the engaged central pump mechanism together to separate the composite fluid in the composite container;
• stopping the together rotation of the central pump mechanism and the rotor;
• and
• pumping with the central pump mechanism a separated component part of the composite fluid to a component container after the together rotation of the central pump mechanism and the rotor is stopped.

A centrifuge and disposable combination for centrifugally separating a composite fluid into component parts thereof comprising

• a rotor comprising
• a composite fluid containment/separation area;
• a fluid channel;
• and
• a component collection area;
• a centrally disposed pump mechanism;
• a disposable comprising
• a composite fluid bag in the composite fluid containment/separation area;
• a component collection bag in the component collection are;
• tubing in the fluid channel and connected to the composite fluid bag and the component collection bag;
• a motor for rotating the rotor
• wherein the centrally disposed pump mechanism engages the tubing for rotating the centrally disposed pump mechanism with the rotor during separation of the composite fluid.
