Abstract
A family of novel imino-amide catalyst precursors and catalysts useful for the polymerization of olefins, such as ethylene, higher alpha-olefins, dienes, and mixtures thereof.
Claims24
A method of polymerizing olefins comprising combining under polymerization conditions a catalyst precursor composition with one or more olefins selected from ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, 1-pentene, 1-hexene, 1-octene, and 1-decene;
- the catalyst precursor composition represented by one or more:
- 36
- wherein T is a bridging group containing 2 or more bridging atoms;
- M is a metallic element selected from Groups 3 to 13, of the Periodic Table of the Elements;
- Z is a coordination ligand;
- each L is a monovalent, bivalent, or trivalent anionic ligand;
- n is an integer from 1 to 6;
- m is an integer from 1 to 3;
- X and Y are each independently selected from nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, and phosphorus;
- R is a non-bulky substituent;
- and
- R′ is a bulky substituent that is sterically hindering with respect to Y.
