A fuel cell, comprising:
- a first flow plate;
- a second flow plate;
- an electrolyte layer between the first and second flow plates;
- and
- a cathode between the first flow plate and the electrolyte layer,
- wherein the cathode comprises an electrolytic polymer and a non-electrolytic polymer.
A fuel cell, comprising:
- a first flow plate;
- a second flow plate;
- an electrolyte layer between the first and second flow plates;
- and
- a cathode between the first flow plate and the electrolyte layer;
- wherein the cathode comprises a first catalyst that interacts with oxygen and protons to form water, and a second catalyst that interacts with peroxide to form water and oxygen, the second catalyst being different from the first catalyst.
A fuel cell, comprising:
- a first flow plate;
- a second flow plate;
- an electrolyte layer between the first and second flow plates;
- and
- a cathode between the first flow plate and the electrolyte layer;
- wherein the cathode comprises a binder material, the binder material being present in the cathode at a higher concentration at a first surface adjacent to the first flow plate than at a second surface opposite the first surface.
A fuel cell, comprising:
- a first flow plate;
- a second flow plate;
- an electrolyte layer between the first and second flow plates;
- and
- a region between the first flow plate and the electrolyte layer, the region comprising an electrolytic polymer and a non-electrolytic polymer.
