The present invention relate to novel lactic acid bacterial micro-organisms that have been isolated and selected for their probiotic potential and their use for the preparation of petfood compositions intended to improve the health of pets, and to compositions containing the same.

Novel isolated strains of lactic acid bacteria having high probiotic activity in pets, selected for their ability to survive and colonize the gastrointestinal tract of pets.
Use of an isolated strain of lactic acid bacteria and/or its supernatant of culture and/or a metabolite thereof, having high probiotic activity in pets, for the preparation of a composition intended for maintaining or improving pet health.
