Ophthalmic and contact lens solutions using low molecular weight amines

A lens care solution comprising:

• 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:
• 8
• Where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are —H or low molecular weight radicals, and R5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salts thereof;
• an effective amount of tonicity agent;
• and
• the balance water

A lens care solution comprising:

• 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:
• 9
• Where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are —H or low molecular weight radicals, and R5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salts thereof;
• an effective amount of a preservative agent;
• and
• the balance water

A method for treating a contact lens in order to decrease its affinity to protein deposition which comprises the step of:

• Soaking a contact lens in an aqueous solution comprising 0.001 to 5 weight percent a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:
• 10
• where R3 and R4 are low molecular weight radicals;
• and R1 and R2 are —H or low molecular weight radicals;
• where R1, R2, R3 and R4 can be chosen from the following groups or salts thereof;

An ophthalmic product comprising:

• At least one contact lens;
• A contact lens container;
• and
• Sufficient contact lens solution to wet said contact lens where said solution comprises:
• 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:
• 13
• Where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are —H or low molecular weight radicals, and R5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salts thereof;
• and the balance water
