Method for producing images containing laser-induced color centers and laser-induced damages

A method for producing images inside transparent materials by combined creation of laser-induced color centers and laser-induced damages comprising:

• transformation of the computer image into arrangements of pixels, which should be produced as laser-induced etch points (areas of color centers or laser-induced damages) inside transparent materials;
• generation of laser pulses, which create laser-induced color centers but have the smaller energy than the breakdown threshold;
• directing said laser pulses onto target areas within said material, where said laser-induced color centers should be created;
• generation of laser pulses with energy above (or equal to) the breakdown threshold;
• directing said laser pulses onto target points within said material, where laser-induced damages should be created;
• formation of focal spots so that laser pulses create areas of color centers with desirable shapes.
