Masonry connectors and twist-on hook and method

A device for connecting a wall to a frame, the frame comprising a receiving means attached thereto, the device comprising:

• an anchor which can connect the device to the wall;
• a hook which can substantially encircle the receiving means;
• and
• a connector which attaches the anchor to the hook.

A method for connecting a wall to a frame, the method comprising the steps of:

• attaching a receiving means to the frame,
• selecting a connecting device comprising:
• an anchor which can connect to the wall;
• a hook which can substantially encircle the receiving means;
• and
• a connector which attaches the anchor to the hook;
• connecting the anchor to the wall and the hook to the receiving means.

A connection system comprising:

• an anchor having a primary anchor axis generally parallel to the anchor, the anchor comprising a reinforced end, the anchor further comprising a reinforcing member with a primary reinforcing axis generally parallel to the reinforcing member and not substantially parallel to the primary anchor axis, the reinforcing member being securely attached to the anchor at the reinforced end, the reinforcing member being attachable to a wall connecting surface by mortar;
• a hook which can connect to a frame;
• and
• a connector which attaches the anchor to the hook.

A device for connecting a wall to a frame, the wall having a connecting surface, the device comprising:

• an anchor having a primary anchor axis generally parallel to the anchor, the anchor comprising a reinforced end, the anchor further comprising a reinforcing member with a primary reinforcing axis generally parallel to the reinforcing member and not substantially parallel to the primary anchor axis, the reinforcing member being securely attached to the anchor at the reinforced end, the reinforcing member being attachable to the connecting surface by mortar;
• a hook which can connect the device to the frame;
• and
• a connector which attaches the anchor to the hook.

A method for connecting a wall to a frame, the method comprising the steps of:

• attaching a receiving means to the frame;
• selecting a connecting device comprising:
• an anchor having a primary anchor axis generally parallel to the anchor, the anchor comprising a reinforced end, the anchor further comprising a reinforcing member with a primary reinforcing axis generally parallel to the reinforcing member and not substantially parallel to the primary anchor axis, the reinforcing member being securely attached to the anchor at the reinforced end, the reinforcing member being attachable to the connecting surface by mortar;
• a hook which can connect the device to the frame;
• and
• a connector which attaches the anchor to the hook;
• and
• connecting the anchor to the wall and the hook to the receiving means.

For use in a system joining a connecting device to a receiving means, a hook connected to the connecting device, the hook comprising:

• a first prong having a first attachment end and a first distal end opposite the first attachment end;
• a second prong having a second attachment end and a second distal end opposite the second attachment end;
• a body which attaches the first attachment end to the second attachment end;
• the first distal end being located proximate the second attachment end;
• and
• the second distal end being located proximate the first attachment end;
• there being formed a hook opening between the first and second prongs;
• and
• the receiving means being passable through the opening;
• and
• the hook substantially encircling the receiving means when the receiving means is passed through the opening.

A method for joining a connecting device to a receiving means, the method comprising the steps of:

• selecting a hook comprising:
• a first prong having a first attachment end and a first distal end opposite the first attachment end;
• a second prong having a second attachment end and a second distal end opposite the second attachment end;
• a body which attaches the first attachment end to the second attachment end;
• the first distal end being located proximate the second attachment end;
• and
• the second distal end being located proximate the first attachment end;
• there being formed a hook opening between the first and second prongs;
• and
• the receiving means being passable through the opening;
• orienting the opening generally parallel to the receiving means;
• passing the receiving means through the opening;
• and
• reorienting the opening generally perpendicular to the receiving means.
