Abstract
A prosthetic component includes an adaptor having a first end and a second end. The first end includes an elongated male tapered body. The second end includes a flange extending radially outwardly from the male tapered body and having an anti-rotational/anatomically orientation component formed therewith. The second end also includes a female tapered aperture formed therein which has an anti-rotational/anatomical orientation component formed therewith. The flange may include an elongated portion having a porous annular surface thereon.
Claims20
1) A prosthetic orthopedic implant system, comprising:
- a prosthetic distal femoral component;
- a femoral stem incompatible for connection directly to the distal femoral component;
- a prosthetic proximal tibial component;
- a tibial stem incompatible for connection directly to the proximal tibial component;
- and
- first and second adaptors, wherein each adaptor has a first end adapted to connect directly to both the distal femoral component and proximal tibial component, and each adaptor has a second end adapted to connect directly to both the femoral stem and tibial stem, the adaptors providing a compatible interface between the distal femoral component and femoral stem and between the proximal tibial component and tibial stem.
7) A prosthetic orthopedic implant system, comprising:
- a distal femoral component;
- a femoral stem incompatible for connection directly to the distal femoral component;
- a proximal tibial component;
- a tibial stem incompatible for connection directly to the proximal tibial component;
- a segment having a first end sized to connect directly to the distal femoral component;
- and
- a first adaptor having a first end adapted to connect directly to both the segment and the distal femoral component, and having a second end sized to connect directly to the femoral stem, wherein the first adaptor provides a compatible interface between the femoral stem and the distal femoral component and between the femoral stem and the segment.
15) A prosthetic orthopedic implant system, comprising:
- a distal femoral component;
- a femoral stem incompatible for connection directly to the distal femoral component;
- a proximal tibial component;
- a tibial stem incompatible for connection directly to the proximal tibial component;
- a first adaptor having a first end adapted to connect the distal femoral component, and having a second end sized to connect directly to the femoral stem, wherein the first adaptor provides a compatible interface between the femoral stem and the distal femoral component;
- and
- a second adaptor having a first end adapted to connect directly to the proximal tibial component, and having a second end sized to connect directly to the tibial stem, wherein the second adaptor provides a compatible interface between the tibial stem and the proximal tibial component.
