Abstract
Disclosed herein are Mactanamide compounds having the following structural formula 1 wherein R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, or alkoxyl; R2 and R3 are each independently H, alkyl, hydroxyl, or alkoxyl. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions comprising at least one Mactanamide compound. Also disclosed are methods of treating, preventing, inhibiting inflammation or inflammatory diseases and disorders in a subject comprising administering to the subject at least one Mactanamide compound.

A composition comprising at least one Mactanamide compound having the following structural formula

- wherein R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, or alkoxyl;
- R2 and R3 are each independently H, alkyl, hydroxyl, or alkoxyl;
- and a pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable excipient.
A method of treating, preventing, or inhibiting inflammation or an inflammatory disease or disorder in a subject comprising administering to the subject at least one Mactanamide compound having the following structural formula

- wherein R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, or alkoxyl;
- and R2 and R3 are each independently H, alkyl, hydroxyl, or alkoxyl.
A kit comprising at least one Mactanamide compound having the following structural formula

- wherein R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, or alkoxyl, R2 and R3 are each independently H, alkyl, hydroxyl, or alkoxyl and directions for use.
