Abstract
The subject invention pertains to new thermostable enzymes and the use of these enzymes both in proteolysis as well as protein and polypeptide synthesis. The subject invention further concerns polynucleotide sequences which encode the enzymes of the subject invention.
Claims15
An isolated serine protease having an apparent molecular weight of approximately 81 kDa, or a fragment of said approximately 81 KDa protease having proteolytic activity, wherein said protease is:
- a) encoded by a polynucleotide sequence which hybridizes under high stringency conditions with SEQ ID NO. 2;
- or b) encoded by a polynucleotide encoding a protease comprising SEQ ID NO:1.
An isolated protease which is enzymatically active at temperatures of about 80° C. or higher, and wherein said protease has endopeptidase activity and exopeptidase activity.
An isolated protease having an amino acid sequence which comprises SEQ ID NO. 1.
