Abstract
Methods are provided for estimating the risk of developing restenosis or of atherosclerosis in an individual. Methods and compositions for treating or preventing restenosis or atherosclerosis also are provided.
Claims34
A method for the detection of restenosis in a mammal, comprising assaying the level of expression of at least three genes in a sample obtained from said mammal.
A method of inhibiting restenosis comprising administering to a patient suffering from restenosis a composition that inhibits smooth muscle cell proliferation or neointimal hyperplasia and wherein said composition modifies expression of at least one gene listed in Table 1.
A method of estimating the risk of developing restenosis or of atherosclerosis in an individual, comprising detecting the presence of biologically important polymorphisms in a set of genes in a sample obtained from said individual, wherein said set comprises at least three genes, at least five genes, at least ten genes, or at least fifty genes.
