Abstract
The present invention provides systems and methods of creating talking books that employ photo-electronics for autonomous page recognition. More particularly, this invention relates to systems and methods for employing one or more light sensing components, such as photoresistors, phototransistors, and photodiodes, on the pages of a book in order to recognize when a page is being read by a user so that an audio segment associated to the page, or pair of pages, that is being read by the user may be played. This invention also relates to employing light sensing components that can recognize and react user interactions with a talking book. Examples of a reaction would be to play a media segment for a particular action or to turn ON a particular LED.
Claims21
A book, said book comprising:
- a binding;
- a first page attached to said binding, wherein a first light sensor is located on said first page and said first light sensor provides a first control signal that is indicative of the amount of light shining on said first page;
- and
- a second page attached to said binding.
A book that plays a media segment associated to a light sensing component, said book comprising:
- a binding;
- a plurality of pages attached to said binding;
- at least one page-recognition light sensing component located on each one of said plurality of pages;
- and
- control circuitry that is electrically coupled said page-recognition light sensing components, wherein said control circuitry determines which one of at least several media segments to play dependent upon the amount of light sensed by said at least one page-recognition light sensing components.
A method of determining which page is opened to in a book, said method comprising:
- providing a first control signal from a first light sensor located on a first page of said book to a control circuit.
A book, said book comprising:
- a binder;
- a first and second book cover attached to said binder;
- a plurality of pages attached to said binder and located between said first and second book covers;
- and
- a speaker that is extendable from said first book cover.
A book having autonomous page recognition.
