Abstract
The invention relates to a method for coating a composite cylinder. On top of said composite cylinder (1) is drawn or extruded a metal casing (2), whose metal surface is modified a metal treatment process and/or plated with a coating layer.

A method for coating a composite cylinder, characterized in that on top of said composite cylinder (1) is drawn or extruded a metal casing (2), having its metal surface modified with a metal treating process and/or plated with a coating layer.
A method as set forth in any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the metal surface is formed with a surface pattern or embossment prior to eventual other surface treatment.
A method as set forth in any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the metal surface is treated by rolling the casing surface for a threaded or helical pattern or a pattern of flutes.
A method as set forth in any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the metal surface is plated with some electrolytic or chemical coating.
A method as set forth in any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the metal casing (2) is treated by welding for joining the casing (2) or for sealing a joint.
A composite roll or shaft (1) for a paper or board machine, characterized in that on top of its surface is drawn a metal casing (2), having its surface modified and/or coated for enhancing surface properties.
The roll or shaft (1) as set forth in the preceding claim, characterized in that the surface treatment for the metal casing (2) comprises hard chromium plating.
