- a tray flange surrounding the tray cavity on the upper portion of the walls;
- at least one flap connected to the tray flange, wherein the flap is foldable and bondable to at least one tray wall;
- a recessed flap portion facing outward;
- and
- recessed portion on the tray flange connecting the tray cavity to the flap recess.
A method of packaging meat in a tray web, comprising:
- overwrapping a tray web with a lidding web, wherein the lidding web has microperforations that are placed adjacent to a recess that is in communication with the tray cavity containing the meat.
