Abstract
An acoustic spectra personal identification system comprising acoustic signal generating means, acoustic transducer means and computer means including storage means, processor means and acoustic signal analysis means, whereby a data base may be generated and maintained that stores acoustic resonance spectrum information specific to selected body parts of known individuals, for comparison against newly captured acoustic resonance spectral information obtained from an identification subject arid for determination whether said subject's acoustic spectra matches that of a data base participant.
Claims21
An acoustic spectra personal identification system, comprising:
- (a) transducer means including at least one acoustic wave emitting means and at least one acoustic wave detecting means positioned spaced apart whereby a selected body part may be placed upon said transducer means, bridging and in simultaneous contact with said at least one emitting means and with said at least one detector means;
- (b) acoustic wave generator means adapted to transmit a selected acoustic wave form signal to said at least one acoustic wave emitting means;
- (c) acoustic wave analyzer means adapted for converting acoustic wave signals received from said detecting means into digital acoustic spectra signals representing the acoustic spectrum of said received acoustic wave signals;
- (d) recording means for storing digitized acoustic spectra signals;
- and
- (e) acoustic spectra comparison means.
A personal identification method comprising the following steps:
- (a) Obtaining a baseline acoustic spectra of a selected body part of at least one known person;
- (b) Retrievably storing said baseline acoustic spectra;
- (c) Thereafter obtaining the acoustic spectra of said selected body part of a person whose identification is sought to be determined, and
- (d) Comparing said identification acoustic spectra to the stored baseline acoustic spectra of said at least one known person.
An acoustic spectra product identification apparatus, comprising:
- (f) transducer means including at least one acoustic wave emitting means and at least one acoustic wave detecting means positioned spaced apart whereby a selected product part may be placed upon said transducer means, bridging and in simultaneous contact with said at least one emitting means and with said at least one detector means;
- (g) acoustic wave generator means adapted to transmit a selected acoustic wave form signal to said at least one acoustic wave emitting means;
- (h) acoustic wave analyzer means adapted for converting acoustic wave signals received from said detecting means into digital acoustic spectra signals representing the acoustic spectrum of said received acoustic wave signals;
- (i) recording means for storing digitized acoustic spectra signals;
- and
- (j) acoustic spectra comparison means.
