Abstract
The invention relates to a method of and an apparatus for multiplexing a number of video signals. According to the invention, the video signals are reduced in their information, combined into a single video signal, and then the video signal is compressed by one compressor. This saves circuits for compressors.
Claims8
A method of multiplexing a number of video signals, characterized in that the video signals are reduced as regards their information, then combined into one video signal, whereupon said video signal is compressed by a compressor (17). A method of multiplexing a number of video signals, characterized in that television pictures of the video signals are stored alternately in a memory (32), and subsequently the television pictures of a video signal are read serially in blocks from the memory (32) and compressed by a compressor (33).
A method of multiplexing a number of video signals, characterized in that a first television picture of sequences of several video signals is compressed by a compressor (52) and stored as an intermediate image in a memory (53), and subsequently successive images of the sequence are compressed alternately by the compressor (52) in dependence on the intermediate image associated with the respective video signal.
A method of multiplexing a number of video signals, characterized in that a first television picture of sequences of several video signals is compressed by a compressor (72) and stored as an intermediate image in a memory (78), and subsequently successive images of the sequence are compressed alternately by a second compressor (79) in dependence on the intermediate image associated with the respective video signal.
An apparatus as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the memory (32) has two partial memories (38, 39).
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
