Touch panel, control method, program, and storage medium

Apparatus comprising:

• a touch panel which monitors operation positions entered by a user on a display screen;
• a storage part, coupled to said touch panel, which stores calibration functions corresponding to each of at least two segments having different distances in a predetermined direction on the display screen, wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction;
• an operation position reader part, coupled to said touch panel, which reads operation positions entered on said touch panel;
• and
• a calibration part which couples said storage part and said operation position reader part and which (a) calibrates the operation position using a calibration function as stored in said storage part for a segment corresponding to the operation position and (b) determines input coordinates.

Apparatus comprising:

• a touch panel which monitors operation positions entered by a user on a display screen;
• an operation position reader part, coupled to said touch panel, which reads operation positions entered on said touch panel;
• and
• a calibration part, coupled to said operation position reader part, which calibrates the operation positions so that the relationship between the position of the operation position in a predetermined direction on the display screen and the amount of calibration for the operation position is non-linear;
• wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction.

A method comprising the steps of:

• displaying a plurality of marks in a system having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen, the marks indicating operation target positions on the display screen such that the densities of the marks along a predetermined direction differ as a function of the positions in line with the predetermined direction, wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction;
• reading operation positions entered on the touch panel;
• obtaining relative positions of the operation positions as read in said reading step relative to the display position of the marks as displayed in said displaying step;
• and
• calibrating the operation position in a new operation different from an operation applied during said obtaining step based on the relative positions.

A method comprising the steps of:

• obtaining calibration functions in a system having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen, the calibration functions corresponding to each of at least two segments having differing distances along a predetermined direction on the display screen, wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction;
• reading operation positions entered on the touch panel;
• and
• calibrating the operation position using one of said obtained calibration functions for the segment corresponding to the read operation position and determining the input coordinates.

A method comprising the steps of:

• reading operation positions in a system having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen wherein the operation positions being entered are entered on the touch panel;
• and
• calibrating the operation positions as read in said reading step so that the relationship between the position of the operation positions along a predetermined direction on the display screen and the amount of calibration for the operation positions are non-linear;
• wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction.

A program product comprising:

• a computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein for execution on a computer having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen, the computer readable program code in said program product being effective when executing to:
• display a plurality of marks indicating operation target positions on the display screen such that the densities of the marks along a predetermined direction differ as a function of the positions in line with the predetermined direction, wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction;
• read operation positions entered on the touch panel;
• obtain relative positions of the read operation positions relative to the display position of the displayed marks;
• and
• calibrate the operation position in a new operation different from an operation applied when the relative positions were obtained.

A program product comprising:

• a computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein for execution on a computer having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen, the computer readable program code in said program product being effective when executing to:
• obtain calibration functions corresponding to each of at least two segments having differing distances along a predetermined direction on the display screen, wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction;
• read operation positions entered on the touch panel;
• and
• calibrate the operation position using one of said obtained calibration functions for the segment corresponding to the read operation position and determine the input coordinates.

A program product comprising:

• a computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein for execution on a computer having a touch panel for monitoring and calibrating operation positions entered by a user on a display screen, the computer readable program code in said program product being effective when executing to:
• read operation positions being entered on the touch panel;
• and
• calibrate the read operation positions so that the relationship between the position of the operation positions along a predetermined direction on the display screen and the amount of calibration for the operation positions are non-linear;
• wherein the predetermined direction is a direction selected from the group consisting of a main scanning line direction and a sub-scanning line direction.
