Abstract
Methods for preventing and treating glaucomatous optic neuropathy using peptides derived from or related to Activity Dependent Neuroprotective Factor (ADNP) are disclosed.

A method for treating glaucomatous optic neuropathy, said method comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a composition comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of a peptide or protein comprising a sequence consisting of at least 8 contiguous amino acids from SEQ ID NO:2.
A method for treating glaucomatous optic neuropathy, said method comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a composition comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of a peptide or protein comprising a sequence consisting of a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:6, and SEQ ID NO:7.
