Locking mechanism for bangle and bangle having same

A locking mechanism for a bangle, the bangle having a main body shaped in an openable loop, the main body having an inner side to be worn against the skin of the wearer and an outer side opposite the inner side, the main body also having a first end and a second end engageable with the first end to thereby close the loop of the main body, said locking mechanism comprising:

• a bar attached transversely across the first end of the main body on the inner side, said bar having a front edge and a rear edge;
• and
• a tongue attached at a fixed end to the second end of the main body projecting from the second end, said tongue having a raised detent portion at a free end opposite said fixed end,
• wherein when said locking mechanism is closed, said tongue passes under said front edge of said bar and said raised detent portion catches on said rear edge of said bar, thereby locking said bangle closed.

A bangle, comprising:

• a main body shaped in an openable loop, said main body having an inner side to be worn against the skin of the wearer and an outer side opposite said inner side, said main body also having a first end and a second end engageable with said first end to thereby close said loop of said main body;
• and
• a locking mechanism comprising:
• a bar attached transversely across said first end of said main body on said inner side, said bar having a front edge and a rear edge;
• and
• a tongue attached at a fixed end to said second end of said main body projecting from said second end, said tongue having a raised detent portion at a free end opposite said fixed end,
• wherein when said locking mechanism is closed, said tongue passes under said front edge of said bar and said raised detent portion catches on said rear edge of said bar, thereby locking said bangle closed.

A bangle, comprising:

• a main body shaped in an openable loop and having a first end and a second end engageable with said first end to thereby close said loop of said main body;
• and
• a locking mechanism comprising:
• a bar attached to said first end of said main body;
• and
• a tongue, having a fixed end and a free end, attached at said fixed end to said second end of said main body projecting from said second end, said tongue having a raised detent portion at said free end,
• wherein when said locking mechanism is closed, said raised detent portion catches on said bar, thereby locking said bangle closed.
