Abstract
The invention relates to absorbents for water and aqueous liquids, which absorbents are based on water-swellable, yet water-insoluble polymers wherein zeolites high in silicon have been incorporated ionically and/or as a result of mechanical inclusion.

An absorbent, crosslinked polymer for water or aqueous body fluids, based on optionally partially neutralized, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers bearing acid groups, characterized in that the polymer has zeolites high in silicon at least partially bound ionically thereto or incorporated therein.
