Abstract
Methods for inhibiting the production of TSST-1 from Gram positive bacteria are disclosed. The methods comprise exposing the Gram positive bacteria to compounds capable of inhibiting the production of TSST-1 from the Gram positive bacteria.
Claims26
A method of inhibiting the production of TSST-1 from Gram positive bacteria comprising exposing the Gram positive bacteria to an effective amount of a first active ingredient having the general formula:
- 12
- wherein V′ is selected from —NH—, —O—, —CH2—, —C(O)OCH2—, —C(O)—, and —C(O)O—, R100, R102, R103, R104, R105, R106, R107 and R108 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, —OH, —O(R113) , —SO3Na, —SO3H, —N(R114) (R115), and —NO2, R113 is selected from hydrogen, sodium and a monovalent saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl moiety having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms which may or may not be interrupted with a heteroatom, R114 and R115 are independently selected from hydrogen and a saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl moiety having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms which may or may not be interrupted with a heteroatom, and R200 is a monovalent, saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl moiety having from 1 to 15 carbon atoms which may or may not be interrupted with heteroatom, wherein the first active ingredient is effective in inhibiting the production of TSST-1 from Gram positive bacteria.
