Abstract
A plate for use in a vehicle brake assembly is made from a non-metallic material. In one example, a wet disc brake assembly plate is made from a phenolic material. In another example, a backing plate for a disc brake or drum brake assembly is made from a non-metallic composite and has a friction pad secured to at least one side.
