The conventional fire extinguishing method requires a considerable time for knock-down and needs various fire extinguishing systems. It is made possible to shorten the knock-down time to a considerable extent and to attain a marked reduction in the amount of water used during fire fighting and significant minimization of secondary disaster damage by fire-fighting water sprayed over areas other than the fire-stricken area with a simple system configuration. A moving means carrying a fire extinguishing system, for example, a fire engine or a truck having a device for supplying a powder fire extinguishing agent coated with a waterproof film, e.g. a silicone resin, and a fire-fighting water delivery pipeline, is used. The powder fire extinguishing agent is added and mixed into the fire-fighting water delivery pipeline, and the mixed water is delivered through a fire hose and discharged from a spray nozzle provided at the distal end of the fire hose.
