Abstract
The current invention discloses an improved clinometer which can be used as an inexpensive form of builder's level or transit due to its capability of orienting itself to a predetermined vertical angle, and maintaining said angle through the use of gravity.
Claims3
An improved clinometer for sighting predetermined angles in a vertical plane comprising:
- p1 a. a relatively flat plate of rigid material of predetermined thickness with a hole of predetermined diameter bored through said plate near the point of equilibrium, said hole serving as means of releasable attachment of said plate to an axis;
- b. said axis consisting of a rigid rod of predetermined diameter and length, which, when placed through said hole allows said plate to rotate freely upon it, said axis also serving as attachment means for origination of a plumb-line;
- c. means for releasable attachment of said plumb-line to said plate in a multiplicity of predetermined positions on the periphery of said plate;
- d. visual sight means attached to said plate.
