Abstract
A cardiac rhythm management device in which amplitudes of electrograms from one or more cardiac sites are measured in order to ascertain the extent of hypertrophy. The device may then pace the heart by delivering pacing therapy in a manner that unloads the hypertrophied myocardium to effect reversal of undesirable remodeling.
Claims24
A cardiac rhythm management device, comprising:
- a plurality of sensing channels incorporating electrodes for disposition near different myocardial regions;
- a controller programmed to measure the amplitudes of electrograms generated by the plurality of sensing channels during a depolarization event and thereby determine the extent to which the different myocardial regions are hypertrophied.
A method for operating a cardiac rhythm management device, comprising:
- disposing electrodes incorporated into a plurality of sensing channels near different myocardial regions;
- measuring the amplitudes of electrograms generated by the plurality of sensing channels during a depolarization event to thereby determine the extent to which the different myocardial regions are hypertrophied.
