Abstract
A method for decreasing intraocular pressure by administering an A3 subtype adenosine receptor antagonist, a calmodulin antagonist or an antiestrogen such as tamoxifen. These agents, by inhibiting influx or promoting efflux of aqueous humor, can be used to treat glaucoma.
Claims24
A method for reducing intraocular pressure in an individual with an ocular disorder, comprising the step of administering to said individual an effective intraocular pressure-reducing amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising an A3 subtype adenosine receptor antagonist.
A method for reducing intraocular pressure in an individual with an ocular disorder, comprising the step of administering to said individual an effective intraocular pressure-reducing amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising an antiestrogen.
A method for reducing intraocular pressure in an individual with an ocular disorder, comprising the step of administering to said individual an effective intraocular pressure-reducing amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a calmodulin antagonist.
A method for reducing intraocular pressure in an individual with an ocular disorder, comprising the step of administering to said individual an effective intraocular pressure-reducing amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a prodrug which is converted into a A3 subtype adenosine receptor antagonist after said administering step.
An A3 subtype adenosine receptor antagonist for use in reduction of intraocular pressure.
Use of an antiestrogen in the preparation of a medicament for the reduction of intraocular pressure.
A calmodulin antagonist for use in reduction of intraocular pressure.
A prodrug which is converted into an A3 receptor antagonist in vivo for use in reduction of intraocular pressure.
