Abstract
The use of NOT1 or NOT1 a polypeptides and polynucleotides in the design of protocols for the treatment of obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, cachexia or liposarcoma among others, and diagnostic assays for such conditions.

The use of a compound selected from:
- (a) a NOT1 or NOT1a polypeptide;
- (b) a compound which activates a NOT1 or NOT1a polypeptide;
- or
- (c) a polynucleotide encoding a NOT1 or NOT1a polypeptide, for the manufacture of a medicament for treating:
- (i) obesity;
- (ii) insulin resistance;
- (iii) type 2 diabetes;
- (iv) impaired glucose tolerance;
- (v) cachexia;
- or
- (vi) liposarcoma.
