Abstract
Nucleic acids comprising the RNA component of a mammalian telomerase are useful as pharmaceutical, therapeutic, and diagnostic reagents.
Claims9
A method for inhibiting telomerase activity in human cells, comprising transferring into cells an exogenous polynucleotide comprising a transcriptional unit having a polynucleotide sequence of at least 25 consecutive nucleotides which is substantially identical or substantially complementary to a human telomerase RNA sequence operably linked to a heterologous transcriptional regulatory sequence which promotes transcription of operably linked polynucleotides in said cells.
A polynucleotide for gene therapy of a human disease, comprising a transcription unit comprising a polynucleotide sequence of at least 25 consecutive nucleotides which is substantially identical or substantially complementary to a human telomerase RNA sequence operably linked to a heterologous transcriptional regulatory sequence which promotes transcription of operably linked polynucleotides in said cells.
A ribozyme which cleaves hTR or human telomeric repeat sequences.
