Devices and methods of use for brush holders are disclosed. A brush holder including an over-center locking device is disclosed. Also illustrated are methods and devices for maintaining brush pressure against a moving conductive surface using a spring without a back plate. Methods and devices for routing current from a brush to an output location without conducting through a brush box are shown. A system for ready removal and replacement of brushes, contacts and springs is disclosed. Also included are mechanisms and methods for preventing a brush from falling downward or out during removal of the brush. Methods and devices for cutting off current flow without creating arcing or shorting between a brush and collector ring or other moving conductive surface are presented as well.
A brush holder for holding a brush having a conductive element, the brush holder comprising:
A brush holder comprising:
A combination brush holder and brush release apparatus, the brush holder comprising:
A brush holder having a bottom and a top, the brush holder comprising:
A brush holder comprising:
A spring comprising a tension member adapted to provide tension whenever the tension member is deformed from a default shape, the spring being adapted for use in a brush holder, the spring not requiring contact with a back plate to provide spring force to a brush in a brush holder.
A brush holder for selectively holding a brush against a conductive surface, the brush holder comprising:
A brush holder for holding a brush against a conductive surface, the brush holder comprising a brush box for containing the brush on several sides, the brush box having at least one side for containing the brush on at least one side, the brush box not including a back plate.
A brush holder for holding a brush against a conductive surface, the brush holder comprising:
A terminal for use in a brush holder assembly including a conductive segment, the terminal adapted for electrically connecting the conductive segment of the brush holder assembly to a conductive element of a brush, the terminal comprising:
