Abstract
A Jar Opener includes a beam, a handle, a fixed jaw, and a movable jaw. The Jar Opener is able to securely clamp a jar lid between the fixed jaw and the movable jaw, and the beam and handle are then turned to open the jar. The Jar Opener functions as a lever arm to enable any user to easily open virtually any twist top jar.
Claims19
A jar opener, comprising:
- fixed jaw means for engaging a first side of a lid on a jar;
- movable jaw means for releasably engaging a second side of said lid opposite said first side;
- handle means for pressing said movable jaw means against said second side of said lid;
- and
- beams means for supporting said fixed jaw means, said movable jaw means and said handle means, wherein said beams means is turned relative to said jar during said pressing, wherein said lid is turned relative to said jar.
A jar opener, comprising:
- a beam having a first end and a second end;
- a fixed jaw fixed to said first end;
- a movable jaw affixed to said beam translatably between said first end and said second end;
- and
- a handle pivotally affixed to said movable jaw.
A jar opener for opening a jar closed by a lid, said opening or closing feasible by rotating said lid about an axis and relative to said jar, said lid having a first surface and a second surface, said axis substantially between said first surface and said second surface, each of said first surface and said second surface at least partially substantially facing directly away from said axis, said jar opener comprising:
- a beam having a first end and a second end;
- a fixed jaw fixed to said first end and oriented and adapted to releasably engage said first surface;
- a movable jaw affixed to said beam translatably between said first end and said second end, said movable jaw translatable, oriented and adapted to releasably engage said second surface;
- and
- a handle pivotally affixed to said movable jaw, said handle operable to releasably press said movable jaw against said second surface, whereby said first surface is releasably pressed against said fixed jaw, whereby said lid is releasably fixed relative to said beam, said beam rotatable about said axis and relative to said jar, said releasably fixed lid thereby rotatable about said axis and relative to said jar.
