Abstract
In one embodiment of the present invention, a configuration information generation method receives an indication to begin the configuration information generation method. A determination is made which versions of a simple network management protocol a network device supports, wherein the versions support a security feature. Information is forwarded for inclusion in a printout, wherein the information includes an indication of which versions of the simple network management protocol the network device supports.
Claims33
A configuration information generation method comprising:
- receiving an indication to begin said configuration information generation method;
- determining which versions of a simple network management protocol a network device supports, wherein said versions support a security feature;
- and
- forwarding information for inclusion in a printout, wherein said information includes an indication of which versions of said simple network management protocol said network device supports.
A configuration page information generation system comprising:
- a means for detecting an indication of a network device configuration page generation event;
- a means for establishing which versions of a simple network management protocol are supported;
- and
- a means for ascertaining supported simple network management protocol security levels.
A computer readable medium comprising instructions which when executed by a computer system causes said computer system to implement a configuration page method comprising:
- monitoring for the occurrence of a configuration page generation triggering event;
- performing a configuration page information generation process which generates configuration page information including an indication of which SNMP versions are supported by a network device;
- and
- printing the configuration page information including the indication of which SNMP versions are supported by said network device.
A SNMP desired metric process comprising:
- retrieving first user configuration information from a SNMP user table;
- retrieving second user configuration information from a SNMP user table;
- comparing said first user configuration information to said second user configuration information with respect to a desired metric;
- and
- tracking user configuration information that complies with said desired metric.
A configuration page generation system comprising:
- a printer for printing hardcopies of configuration page information;
- a print server for controlling information said printer prints including configuration page information indicating a version of an enabled SNMP, said print server coupled to said printer;
- and
- a network for communicating information to and from said print server, said network coupled to said pint server.
